Jay Womack is licensed as a Private Investigator by the state of Texas.  Womack owns Womack Investigative Solutions LLC.  Womack has over thirty-two years of law enforcement experience.  Womack retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety with twenty-seven years of service.  Womack served as a Texas Ranger from 1999 to 2015.  Womack served as the Chief of Police for the Atlanta Texas Police Department for approximately two and one-half years.  Womack also served as a Dallas police officer, state trooper, DPS narcotics investigator.  In addition, Womack served as a Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration stationed in Atlanta, Georgia and New York City.  Womack holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Mississippi. 

Womack’s ranger career included investigations into hundreds of violent crimes.  Included in these violent crime investigations were capital murders, officer involved shootings, capital murder investigations involving the deaths of a Texas trooper, and two Bowie County Sheriff’s Department deputies.  Womack also conducted numerous public integrity and public corruption investigations.  Womack has conducted numerous white collar crime investigations as well.  Womack augmented the Executive Protective Bureau of the Department of Public Safety in protecting the Governor and Lt. Governor of the state of Texas as well as visiting governors from other states.    

Womack has attacked drug trafficking both on the state and federal level.  While Womack served as a Narcotics Investigator for the Texas Department of Public Safety Narcotics Service, he utilized informants, surveillance, search warrants, pen registers and trap/trace equipment to attack drug trafficking.  While Womack served as a Special Agent in the Drug Enforcement Administration, he attacked drug trafficking on a federal level.  Womack participated in the DEA’s program to attack body cavity smugglers entering the United States through JFK and La Guardia Airports in New York City.    

In the short time Womack served as the Chief of Police for the Atlanta, Texas Police Department, he accomplished many objectives.  The following are just a few of those accomplishments.  Womack purchased every officer an M-4 rifle system with fully automatic capabilities.  These weapons were unanimously approved by the city council.  Womack converted all shotguns to less lethal projectile launchers with every officer being issued one.  The stocks were painted pink and all lethal ammunition was removed from the department and patrol vehicles.  As a result of these less lethal weapons, three lives were saved when officers were not compelled to use deadly force.  Womack purchased vehicles from the Missouri State Police Vehicle Resale Program at a fraction of the cost of new vehicles.  This was a cost savings to the citizens of Atlanta.  Womack utilized the LESO Program and obtained at least $6 hundred thousand dollars’ worth of equipment at no cost to the tax payers of the city of Atlanta.  The LESO Program allows law enforcement agencies to obtain federal government surplus equipment at no cost.  Included in this, were accessories for the M-4 rifle systems and at least four vehicles which were placed into service at no cost to the citizens of Atlanta.
